"Love Is Here and Now You're Gone" is a 1967 number-one hit single recorded by The Supremes for the Motown label. The second single from the Supremes' album The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland, it was written and produced by Motown's main production team Holland–Dozier–Holland.

Michael Jackson later covered "Love Is Here, and Now You're Gone" for his solo debut album, Got to Be There. On the 45 versions, it was the B-side of his number two smash, "Rockin' Robin".

Lyrics
Love is here
And oh my darling, now you're gone
Love is here
And oh my darling, now you're gone
You persuaded me to love you
And I did
But instead of tendeness
I found heartache instead
Into your arms I fell
So unaware of the lonelyness
Thar was waiting there

[Spoken:]
You closed the door to your heart, girl
And you turned the key
Locked your love away from me

Love is here
And oh my darling, now you're gone
You made me love you
And oh my darling, now you're gone
You said loving you
Would make life beautiful
With each passing day
But as soon as love came
Into my heart
You turned and you walked
Just walked away

[Spoken:]
You stripped me of my dreams
You gave me faith, then you took my hope
Look at me now

Look at me
See what loving has done to me
Look at my face
See how cryin' has left its trace
After you made me all your own
Then you left me all alone
You made your words sound so sweet
Knowing that your love I couldn't keep

[Spoken:]
My heart cries out for your tuch
But baby, you're not there
And the lonely cry fades in the air

Love is here
And oh my darling, now you're gone
Love is here
And oh my darling, now you're gone
You made me love you

Oh oh my darling, now you're gone
Talking 'bout love, love, love, love,
Ooh ooh my darling, now you're gone

Lyrics (www.sing365.com)

He rocks in the tree tops all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song
All the little birdies on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet

[Chorus:]
Rockin' robin, rock rock
Rockin' robin'
Blow rockin' robin
'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flappin' their wings singing go bird go

[Chorus]

Pretty little raven at the bird-band stand
Told them how to do the bop and it was grand
They started going steady and bless my soul
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriol

He rocks in the tree tops all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song
All the little birdies on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet

"Got to Be There" is a 1971 single released by Michael Jackson on the Motown label. It was the singer's first solo single following his successful tenure as the lead singer of The Jackson 5. Jackson's solo career began in earnest after its success. The single, written by Elliot Willensky and produced by longtime Jackson 5 producer Hal Davis, was an immediate success. It reached #1 on the Cashbox singles chart, and #4 on both the Billboard pop and R&B charts. It also dominated some European markets, including a #5 position in the UK Singles Chart. With this first hit as a solo artist secured, Motown helped to establish Jackson as a solo act while still with his brothers.
"Got to Be There" was covered by Chaka Khan on her eponymous 1982 solo album. Her version reached the Billboard R&B top 5 and was nominated for a Grammy Award. It was also covered by Boyz II Men for their 2007 album Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA, and by The Miracles on their albums Flying High Together , and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles: 1957-1972 . A mostly instrumental version of the song was recorded by jazz guitarist/singer George Benson for his 1993 release Love Remembers.

Lyrics
Got to be there, got to be there
In the morning
When she says hello to the world
Got to be there, got to be there
Bring her good times
And show her that she's my girl
Oh what a feeling there'll be
The moment I know she loves me
'Cause when I look in her eyes I realize
I need her sharing her world beside me

So I've got to be there
Got to be there in the morning
And welcome her into my world
And show her that she is my girl
When she says, "Hello world!"
I need her sharing the world beside me

That's why I've got to be there
Got to be there where love begins
And that's everywhere she goes
I've got to be there so she knows
That when she's with me, she's home

Got to be there
Got to be there

written by L. Brown, Linda Glover, George Gordy, Allen Story

    Lyrics  (www.sing365.com)

    Maria hey hey Maria
Maria don't you hear me calling Maria
Maria girl you know you were the only one
    Hey hey Maria
Maria don't you miss me just a little
Maria after all you were the only one
Come on back to me Maria
Maria come on back to me girl
    Hey hey Maria
Maria it's been long so long
    Maria since you've been gone
    Hey hey Maria
Maria don't you need me just a little
Maria 'cause honest girl you were the only one
Come on back to me Maria
Oh come on back to me girl

    Maria I need you
Maria why d'you keep a-running away
Oh baby you keep a-running away
    Oh baby yeah Maria
    I need you honey
Oh Maria you sweet little sunflower
Oh hear my plea for sympathy
I just want you here with me Maria
If you're on that lonely night
What's my life without you girl
I'm so lonely I'm so blue
Without you darling my life is through
    Come on back

Mark of Ancients - (Dancing the Dreams)

Mark Of the Ancients (written by Michael Jackson)
    (Dedicated to my MJfan friends)

He had lived in the desert all his life, but for me it was all new. "See that footprint in the sand?" he asked, pointing to a spot by the cliff. I looked as close as I could. "No, I don't see anything."
"That's just the point." He laughed. "Where you can't see a print, that's where the Ancient Ones walked."
We went on a little farther, and he pointed to an opening, high up on the sandstone wall. "See that house up there?" he asked. I squinted hard. "There's nothing to see."
"You're a good student." He smiled. "Where there's no roof or chimney, that's where the Ancient Ones are most likely to have lived."

We rounded a bend, and before us was spread a fabulous sight — thousands upon thousands of desert flowers in bloom. "Can you see any missing?" he asked me. I shook my head. "It's just wave after wave of loveliness."
"Yes," he said in a low voice. "Where nothing is missing, that's where the Ancient Ones harvested the most."
I thought about all this, about how generations had once lived in harmony with the earth, leaving no marks to scar the places they inhabited. At camp that night I said, "You left out one thing."
    "What's that?" he asked.
"Where are the Ancient Ones buried?"
Without reply, he poked his stick into the fire. A bright flame shot up, licked the air, and disappeared. My teacher gave me a glance to ask if I understood this lesson. I sat very still, and my silence told him I did.

Wings of My Love - (Got to be there)

    Written by Corporation

    Lyrics

When this old world gets you down
When your spirit's on the ground
Just remember I will always be around
Just climb on the wings of my love
I'll take you high on the wings of my love
    When you're feeling all alone
Like a child who's got no home
You know you've always got a place where you can go
Just climb on the wings of my love

Like a beach that knows no boundaries with all the trees
As it rushes to the seas darling we'll be just as free
I'll lift your spirits high our love will fly
We'll have heaven blue skies and forever sunshine

'Til you break those ties that bind
'Til that day you're really mine
Anytime you want to leave your world behind
Just climb on the wings of my love

I'll lift your spirits high our love will fly
We'll have heaven blue skies and forever sunshine

We've got rainbows yet to find
And we'll find them all in time
Girl you know someday we'll even touch the sky
Just climb on the wings of my love

Anytime you want to leave your world behind
I'll take you high on the wings of my love
Just take my hand and together we'll touch the sky
Just climb on the wings of my love
Yes remember I will always be around
I'll take you high on the wings of my love

Girl Don't Take Your Love From Me - (Got to be there)

    Written by Willie Hutch

    Lyrics

    Oooh
Foolish of me, I couldn't see
    The forest for the trees
    You've been so true
I've been so cruel to you
Oh, girl please don't leave me

    [Chorus:]
If you stay I'll find a way
    To erase the past
    Baby don't leave me
Girl don't take your love from me
    Oh girl

What can I say to make you stay
    Baby, don't leave me
    You've been so kind
It blows my mind to know
Oh girl, I really hurt you

    [Chorus:]
Tell me girl, it's not to late
And you give me a chance
To make it up to you
Don't take your love from me
    Girl don't take your love
    Don't take your love

    [Bridge:]
Girl, if you take your love away from me
    I'm gonna be in misery
Your love is the strength that I lean upon
How will I make it when it's gone
Of all the little things I wanted to say....
    ...I really wanted to do
    Girl , this time...
Ooh, oh girl I really mean it

    [Chorus:]
So tell me girl, it's not too late
And you'll give me a chance
To make it up to you
Don't take your love from me
Don't take your love, no no no no no
    Don't take your love
    Don't leave me girl

Don't take your love from me
Baby, don't take your love from me
Don't take your love from me
Oooh, don't take your love from me

You don't have to worry 'cause I'm coming
Back to where I should have always stayed
And now I've heard the maybe to your story
And it's enough love for me to stay

But this time let me tell you where I'm at

    [Chorus:]
I wanna, wanna be where you are
    Any, any, anywhere you are
I wanna, wanna be where you are
I gotta be where you are

written by Leon Ware and Arthur "T-Boy" Ross for Michael Jackson, who took the song to number sixteen on the U.S. pop singles chart and number two on the U.S. R&B singles chart in 1972. His third straight Top 40 pop hit during his early solo career in Motown, it was also the first collaboration between Ware and Ross, the younger brother of R&B singer Diana Ross. This song would be one of Jackson's most covered songs, with singers including Marvin Gaye, Willie Hutch, Jason Weaver and The Fugees. Ware and Ross would be famous together for penning the classic Marvin Gaye single, "I Want You" several years afterwards.

    Covers

    • While the versions of Hutch's and Weaver's followed the original, the Fugees' version was completely different save for the choruses sung by Lauryn Hill while Marvin's was more of an instrumental except for Marvin singing the title and dedicating the track to his then-girlfriend Janis Hunter and his children Marvin III (referred as "little Marvin" on the record), Nona and Frankie Christian. The alternate instrumental, later issued on a deluxe edition re-release of Marvin's I Want You album, was a funk-styled instrumental that featured Marvin's background vocals harmonizing throughout the track, which was also produced by Ware.
    • Jose Feliciano, on his first album for Motown Records, produced by Berry Gordy, covered the song in English and then re-recorded it in 1982 on his next LP at Motown in Spanish (the title became "Ahora Si Quiero Amar").
    • There is an interpolation of the song in Grand Puba's 1995 hit "I Like It (I Wanna Be Where You Are)" from the album 2000.
VH1's 2003 reality series Born To Diva's winner Tarralyn Ramsey sampled the song on her second album Tarralyn in 2004.
    • Chris Brown's "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" sampled the song on his 2005 eponymous debut album.
    • Hutch's version was sampled by singer Mary J. Blige for her song, "You Can't Hide from Luv" from her The Breakthrough album.
    • Jennifer Lopez sampled the song in her song "Gotta Be There", which is included in her 2007 album Brave.
    • MURS sampled the song for "Can It Be (Half A Million Dollars And 18 Months Later)" on his 2008 album Murs For President.
    • In 1978, Latin jazz flutist Dave Valentin covered an instrumental version of the song on his debut album Legends, which was also the debut release of the then-new GRP Records label (a subsidiary of Arista Records).
    • BeyoncĂ© covered the song for her live CD/DVD I Am... Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas.
    • 50 Cent freestyled over the instrumental and left Jackson's vocals, the song can be found on 50's mixtape Forever King.

    Lyrics

    You ever want something
that you know you shouldn't have
The more you know you shouldn't have it,
    The more you want it
And then one day you get it,
    It's so good too
But it's just like my girl
    When she's around me
I just feel so good, so good
But right now I just feel cold, so cold
    Right down to my bones
    'Cause ooh...
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
    Anytime she goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
    Anytime she goes away

    I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, know, know, know, know,
    I know, I know,
    Hey I ought to leave
I ought to leave her alone
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
    Only darkness every day
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
    Anytime she goes away

GOT TO BE THERE - Album (1971-1972)

Got to Be There was the solo debut album by then-adolescent Michael Jackson, released by Motown Records on January 24, 1972. It includes the song of the same name, which was released in the October 7, 1971 as Jackson's debut solo single. It would go on to sell over five million copies worldwide. The album was later remastered and reissued in 2009 as part of the 3-disc compilation Hello World: The Motown Solo Collection.

    Album information

Motown released Jackson's solo album around the same time that another famous brother from a famous family was doing the same: Donny Osmond, who was hitting with songs like "Sweet & Innocent" and "Puppy Love". Jackson's and Osmond's debut efforts almost paralleled each other, as Jackson scored a hit with the title track and "Rockin' Robin", which like Osmond's "Puppy Love", was a remake of an old '50s rock song. The album also included covers of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine", Carole King's "You've Got a Friend" and the Supremes' "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone".

    Reception

The album peaked at number fourteen on the US pop albums chart and number three on the US R&B album chart when it was released.
Rolling Stone (12/7/72, p.68) - "..slick, artful and every bit as good as the regular Jackson 5 product...a sweetly touching voice...innocence and utter professionalism...fascinating and finally irresistible.."

    Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day - (Ben)

"Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day" is a hit 1968 single released by American and Motown recording artist Stevie Wonder. The song, co-written by Wonder and produced by Henry Cosby and Sylvia Moy, was the first to showcase Wonder's talents at the clavinet and was one of his first successful co-written tracks during his 1960s Motown period. The song reached #9 on the Billboard pop singles chart in 1968, and went to #1 on the R&B charts.. It was also performed by a young Michael Jackson on his album Ben.

    Lyrics

Your precious sweetheart, she's so faithful
    She's so true, oh yeah
    Her dreams are tumblin'
    Her world is crumblin'
    Because of you, uh uh
One day you'll hurt her just once too much
And when you finally lose your tender touch

    [Refrain]
    Shoo-be-doo-be-doo-be-doo-da-day
Her feet may wander, her heart may stray
    Shoo-be-doo-be-doo-be-doo-da-day
You gonna send your baby straight to me

I'm gonna give her all the lovin'
    Within my heart, oh yeah
I'm gonna patch up every single little dream
You torn apart, understand me now?
And when she tells you she's cried her last tear
Heaven knows I'm gonna be somewhere near

    Shoo-be-doo-be-doo-be-doo-da-day
Her feet may wander, her heart may stray
    Shoo-be-doo-be-doo-be-doo-da-dee
You gonna send your baby straight to me

    Oh yeah-yeah, you better
You better listen to me, yeah

Heartaches are callin' and tears are fallin'
    Because of you, oh yeah
And when you're gone she'll know
I'm the one to go to her rescue
Maybe you didn't know that baby
You're gonna leave her one too many times
And when you come back that
Girl's gonna be mine, all mine

You Can Cry on My Shoulder - (Ben)

    Written by Berry Gordy

    Lyrics

Just because you know I love you so much
Don't be afraid to tell me you're sad
    Because you lost his love
Though your love is not for me
I don't wanna see you in mysery, so come on, baby come on

    [Refrain]
You can cry on my shoulder...
You can cry on my shoulder
And bring all your troubles to me
    All your troubles to me

Big girls ain't supposed to cry,
    If you do I'll understand,
Maybe I can show you how you can win his love again
It may seem strange I know
But it's just that I love you
So come on, baby come on

    [Refrain]
You can cry on my shoulder
You can cry on my shoulder
And bring all your troubles to me.
    All your troubles to me

Girl you've given him all you had
He,d better stop treating you so bad,
Come on babe, come on, oh yeah

    [Refrain]
You can cry on my shoulder, yes you can girl
You can cry on my shoulder
And bring all your troubles to me, yeah babe, yes you can now
Darling, ooooh, oooooooh yes, yes you can girl...
    I'll be there to help,

You can cry, you can cry, you can cry
    Baby
(You can cry on my shoulder)
    Ooooooh yeah babe, yeah babe
(You can cry on my shoulder)
You can cry, you can cry...

"My Girl" has been covered frequently since the 1960s, including versions by other Motown stars such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

    Lyrics

    I've got sunshine
    On a cloudy day
    When it's cold outside
I've got the month of May
    I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
    My girl
    (My girl, my girl)
    Talkin' 'bout my girl
    (My girl)

    I've got so much honey
    the bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song than
    the birds in the trees
    I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
    My girl
    (My girl, my girl)
    Talkin' 'bout my girl
    (My girl)

    Hey hey hey
    Hey hey hey
    Ooooh...

    I don't need no money,
    fortune or fame
I've got all the riches baby
    one man can claim
    Well I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
    My girl
    (My girl, my girl)
    Talkin' 'bout my girl
    (My girl)

In Our Small Way - (Ben)

Written by Bea Verdi, Christine Yarian.

    Lyrics

    [Refrain]
Maybe you and I can't do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
    In our small way

    Empty words are not enough
    Where there's hurt we'll be a crush
When there's thirst we'll fill each other's cup
Because we care we love enough to share

    [Refrain]
Maybe you and I can't do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
    In our small way

In despair we'll be the hope
And the prayer that frees the soul
We'll be there to share each lonely road
    Because we love, I know
    We care enough

    [Refrain]
Maybe you and I can't do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
    In our small way

Just a little time is all it takes
What a difference just a smile can make, you'll see
    Love is all we need

    [Refrain]
Maybe you and I can't do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
    In our small way

i've been in a love affair 3 long years
remember how i use to care when you

    Everybody's Somebody's Fool - (Ben)

Written by Gladys Hampton, Regina Adams, Ace Adams

    Lyrics

    Everybody's somebody's fool
The world is the biggest school
As you live, you learn though a torch will burn
    Everybody's somebody's fool

You go through life making fools of others
    Pretending you're giving them love
    But remember sister or brother
You all have to answer to the one up above

It's beautiful to watch love begin
But oh so sad when it ends
As you go through life remember this rule
    Everybody's somebody's fool

It's beautiful to watch love begin
But oh so sad when it ends
As you go through life remember this rule
    Everybody's somebody's fool

We've Got a Good Thing Going - (Ben)

written by Alphonso Mizell, Berry Gordy Jr., Deke Richards and Freddie Perren also known as the Corporation.

    Lyrics

    (Ooh) Hey my girl
She does something to my chemistry
And when I'm close I'm sure
    I raise her temperature
    'bout three degrees

    Everyday, yeah
    In every way she
    Makes my motor purr
    And I reciprocate
My life I dedicate to lovin' her

So we've got a good thing going
A real good thing going yeah
    That girl and me
And I don't have to ask
    Cause I know it's
    Gonna last eternally

(Now let me tell you what we got)

    Understanding
    Whenever handing any alibis
    Instead of what you do
Where you been or what's the use
    We're making nice

You see we've got a good thing going
A real good thing going yeah
    That girl and me
And she don't have to ask
    Cause she know it's
    Gonna last eternally

    Said we got a
    Good good good good good
    thing going yeah yeah
    That girl and me
And we don't have to ask
    Cause we know it's
    Gonna last internally

People Make the World Go Round - (Ben)

Written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed.

years after, Stevie Wonder , David Sandborn and friends , and Chantae Cann had sung this song on different occasions.

    Lyrics

    People...
    ('Round and 'round and around...)
People make the world go 'round
    ('Round and 'round and around...)

Teachers on strike, no more school today
They want more money but the board won't pay
    People
    Everybody's talkin' 'bout ecology
The air's so polluted that it's hard to breathe
    People

    Rrefrain
But that's what makes the world go round
The ups and downs a carousel
    Changing people's heads around
    Go underground young men...
People make the world go round...

Old folks judge you by the clothes you wear
They'd swear you're a hippy if you have long hair
    Young politicians fight for poverty
While people still cry for equality

    Refrain
But that's what makes the world go round
The ups and downs a carousel
    Changing people's heads around
    Go underground young men...
People make the world go round...

    (Instrumental)

    Refrain
But that's what makes the world go round
The ups and downs a carousel
    Changing people's heads around
    Go underground young men...
People make the world go round...

The Greatest Show on Earth - (Ben)

Written by Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino

    Lyrics

Love is like a circus and a carnival is beautiful to see
Love can turn your mind around like ferris wheels and spinning carosels

You'll be a part of the world of make believe
Flying high like a man on a trapeze

    Oh, everyday is a holiday
    Get your tickets right away
    Love, love, love
Is the Greatest Show on Earth

The fantasy you see is like a child again through rainbow colored eyes
Step right up its circus time and get your moneys worth of love today

You'll be a part of the world of make believe
Flying high like a man on a trapeze

    Everyday is a holiday
    Get your tickets right away
    Love, love, yea
Is the Greatest Show on Earth

    Everyday is a holiday
    Get your tickets right away
    Love, love, love
Is the Greatest Show on Earth

    Love, love, love
Is the greatest show on earth (yea e yea)
    Love, love, yea
Is the greatest show on earth
    Love, love, yea
