Music & Me - song

written by Mike Cannon, Don Fenceton, Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino. similar to the album name.

Lyrics

We've been together for such a long time now
Music, music and me
Don't care whether all our songs rhyme
Now music, music and me

Only know wherever I go
We're as close as two friends can be
There have been others
But never two lovers
Like music, music and me

Grab a song and come along
You can sing your melody
In your mind you will find
A world of sweet harmony

Birds of a feather will fly together
Now music, music and me
Music and me

Morning Glow - ( Music & Me)

written by Stephen Schwartz

Lyrics
Morning glow, morning glow
Starts to glimmer when you know
Winds of change are set to blow
And sweep this whole land through
Morning glow is long past due

Morning glow fill the earth
Come on shine far all you're worth
We'll be present at the birth
Of all faith looking new
Morning glow is long past due

Oh oh morning glow
I'd like to help you grow
You should have started long ago

Morning glow all days long
For we sing tomorrow's song
Never knew we could be so strong
But now it's very clear
Morning glow is almost here

Oh oh morning glow
I'd like to help you grow
We should have started long ago

Morning glow all of your life
We can make the new day right
All the bad songs of the night
Will fade into the past
Morning glow is here at last

Euphoria - (Music & Me)

written by Leon Ware and Hilliard

Lyrics

E-U-P-H-O-R-I-A
That's the new word for today
E-U-P-H-O-R-I-A
It's very easy to say
Say Euphoria and you'll feel
fine from the start
You can close your eyes
And see the world with your heart

Do what you wish, be what you are
What a victorious thrill
Wearing a smile, all of the while
Feeling the world standing still
Watch raindbows glow rest
on a bed of flowers

Then dial a star
Anything's in your powers

Euphoria
Full euphoria
Knowing no ills, needing no pills
Singing a rock and roll hymn
Feeling glorious, full of love
Fine from the start
You can close your eyes
And see the world with your heart

How good to be happy and free
Living the way that you choose
Healthly and clean
Can't understand anyone
having the blues
Euphoria never to feel frustration
How great to give love
without invitation

Euphoria, euphoria
Long as we love each other

Johnny Raven - (Music & Me)

"Johnny Raven" was written by  Billy Page

Lyrics

Free and untamed that`s how I`ve grown
Settling down ain`t my nature
Roots I`ll never own
Oh your smile
But tell me, ain`t your child
How can you cage a bird
Born to be wild

Refrain
I`m Johnny Raven by and by
Oh, I`m going to leave yoour nest girl
Another nest to try
Ooh Johnny Raven
Girl you know I shouldn`t have loved you
Yeah, but I gotta leave yoou
When my restless heart says goodbye

Look at you little girl
You feel love so deep
If I could change in a second
I`d change for you like that
Stay right here for keeps
But I`m home free for no thrills
Stray I will
Seems I gotta need one girl
Never can feel

Refrain
Yeah I`m Johnny Raven by and by
Oh, I`m going to leave yoour nest girl
Another nest to try
Ooh Johnny Raven
Girl you know I shouldn`t have loved you
Yeah, but I gotta leave yoou
When my restless heart says goodbye

Everybody knows my name
I`m Johnny Raven yeah, yeah by abd by
I`m gonna fly
When you cry part of me`s gonna die

Doggin' Around - (Music &Me)

writen by Lena Agree.

Lyrics

You better stop
Your doggin' around
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
'Cause if you don't stop
I'm gonna have to put you down

I can't take it much longer
My heart's getting weak
It's not getting any stronger
You keep me so upset
My head's in a whirl
But if you wanna be, yeah
Be my girl

You better stop
Your doggin' around
You know what I'm talkin' about
Yeah, yeah, yeah
If you don't stop
I'm gonna have to put you down
Baby, yes I do, yes I do
Gonna, gonna put you down
You're doggin' me (repeat)
I'm gonna have to put you down

Yes you do, you're doggin' me (repeat)
You better stop
Your doggin' me around

Lyrics

They try to tell us we're too young
Too young to reaaly be in love

They say that love's a word
A word we've only heard
But can't begin to know the meaning of

And yet we're not too young to know
This love will last though years may go

And then someday they may recall
We were not to young at fall

Lyrics

Sadness had been close as my next of kin
Then happy came one day, chased my blues away
My life began when happy smiled
Sweet, like candy to a child
Stay here and love me just a while
Let sadness see what happy does
Let happy be where sadness was

Happy, thats you
You made my life brand new
Lost as a little lam was I till you came in
My life began when happy smiled
Sweet, like candy to a child
Stay here and love me just a while
Let sadness see what happy does
Let happy be where sadness was
(till now)

Where have I been?
What lifetime was I in?
Suspended between time and space
Lonely until happy came smiling up at me
Sadness had no choice but to flee
I said a prayer so silently
Let sadness see what happy does
Let happy be where sadness was till now

All the Things You Are - (Music & Me)

Composed and written by Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern. It was written for the musical Very Warm for May (1939), where it was introduced by Hiram Sherman, Frances Mercer, Hollace Shaw, and Ralph Stuart. It was later featured in the film Broadway Rhythm (1944). Michael and other artist has since perform this song.

Lyrics

You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song

You are the angel glow that lights a star
The dearest things I know are what you are

Some day my happy arms will hold you
And some day I'll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine

You are the angel glow that lights a star
The dearest things I know are what you are

Some day my happy arms will hold you
And some day I'll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine

Up Again - (Music and Me)

This song was written by Freddie Perren and Yarian. Its the second song in the album.

Lyrics

Into each life some rain falls
Then comes the snow
But after the snow
The flowers will grow
Girl when my life got stormy
You stayed for the ride
You stayed my side
You make the sun shine

Refrain
I'm up again I never let you down
Nothing's ever gonna stop me now
Up again I never let you down
I love you

This humpty dumpty's lucky
He's had his fall
But after it all
He brushed himself off
Knowing how much you loved me
I made one more try
I reached for the sky
And I made it this time

Refrain
I'm up again I never let you down
Nothing's ever gonna stop me now
Up again I never let you down
I love you

"With a Child's Heart" was later covered by American singer Raven-Symoné, taken from her second studio album, Undeniable. It was released as a single in 1999. Raven toured the United States going to various schools and malls to promote the single, and even went on a tour with pop group 'N Sync.
Three music videos were made for the song: the first one used the original "uptempo version", the second used the "ballad version", and the third used a remix. Despite the music videos and heavy promotion, the single never took off and failed to dent the charts.

Lyrics

With A Child's Heart
Go face the worries of the day
With a child's heart
Turn each problem into play
No need to worry no need to fear
Just being alive makes it all so very clear
With a child's heart
Nothing can ever get you down
With a child's heart
You've got no reason to frown
Love is as welcome
As a sunny sunny day
No grown-up thoughts
To lead our hearts astray
Take life easy, so easy nice and easy
Like a child so gay and so carefree
The whole world smiles with you
As you go your merry way
Oh with a child's heart
Nothing's gonna get me down

Album information

The album was released during a difficult period for Jackson, as he was experiencing vocal changes and facing a changing music landscape. Having been influenced by fellow Motown label mates Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Jackson wanted to include his own compositions on the album, but Motown refused to allow this.
Despite featuring a photo of Jackson strumming an acoustic guitar on the album cover, he does not actually play an instrument on the album. Jackson would later express his frustrations about this to his father, Joe Jackson, who would later work to terminate Michael and his brother's contract with Motown, and negotiate lucrative contracts for them with Epic Records.
Since Jackson was on a world tour with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5, promotion on this album was limited. The Stevie Wonder cover, "With a Child's Heart", was released as a single in the United States, where it reached #14 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and #50 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. Two additional songs ("Music and Me" and "Morning Glow") were released as singles in the UK, but they failed to chart. Another track, "Too Young", was released as a single in Italy, while the track "Happy" was a single in Australia and "Doggin' Around" was a limited-release single in Holland. Ten years after this album's release, "Happy" was released as a single in the UK to promote Motown's 18 Greatest Hits compilation album.
After this release, Jackson took two years to work on a follow-up album that focused on his maturing voice which became, Forever, Michael.
